Early Years Centre Manager 0.8FTE

Temporary, Part-Time (0.8FTE) May 2025 to July 2026

The Bridge Educational Society’s Early Years Center (EYC) is seeking an EYC Manager. The Manager serves in a key management role at the Early Years Centre, and works in a collaborative and/or consultative manner with the Director of Education – EYC, to support The Bridge Educational Society’s (The BES) mission, vision and values. The Early Years Center Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of all childcare programs in compliance with Interior Health licensing regulations. The Early Years Center Manager works closely with the Early Years Faculty, the Early Years Director of Education and the BES Administrative team to deliver high-quality Waldorf childcare programs.

Direct Reports: EYC Faculty, with the support of the Director of Education EYC

Salary: 0.8FTE Salary prorated from a Full Time Salary range of $56,160 – $68,640

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

Scheduling

  • Oversees scheduling for all faculty of the EYC in keeping with ratio expectations,
  • Responds to Requests for Time Off, and
  • Responds to Sick Call-Ins.

General

  • Ensures educational safety and quality for all students in compliance with all regulating bodies,
  • Supports child care excellence in line with the school’s vision, mission, strategic plan,
  • Support a culture of professional excellence by ensuring Lead Educators have the resources they need to carry this in events and meetings, and
  • Fosters parent satisfaction via sharing of Parent Ed opportunities and the EYC Parent Guidebook as well as ensuring Lead Educators have the resources they need to cultivate meaningful relationships with parents.

Operations

  • Ensure familiarity with EYC funding models to ensure all decisions are aligned with realities and obligations,
  • Attend to all daily operational needs of the child care center including tasks related to registration, enrollment, attendance, etc.,
  • Support the development of Care Plans and accommodations; attend meetings as needed,
  • Support weekly room meetings, and
  • Oversee weekly and monthly purchasing processes.

Administrative

  • Manages waitlist and enrolment/intake process for new students, including onboarding new families, forecasting ‘in-house’ transitions and communicating with program leads,
  • Manages bus rider registration,
  • Facilitate school age care and Parent & Child registration cycles,
  • Ensure student files and contact lists are current, confidential, and organized,
  • Provide up-to-date attendance sheets to each program,
  • Support human resource recordkeeping and file management,
  • Oversee inventory and purchasing of program supplies, weekly and monthly,
  • Work proactively with the BES Administration and Facilities team to ensure full and timely information flow and ongoing policy and procedure review and implementation,
  • Support ACCB administration in collaboration with the Business Manager,
  • Develop systems and documents to support EYC admin department efficiency, and
  • Attend BES Administration monthly meetings.

Collaborative Work with the Director of Education – EYC

  • Licensing, risk management and student safety compliance
  • EYC Human Resources oversight:
    1. Scheduling and substitution system management
    2. All faculty human resource management including assisting in the following areas:
      1. Hiring (arranging or sitting on a committee)
      2. Performance review
      3. Onboarding (paperwork)
      4. Exit interviews

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BC ECE certification
  • Direct experience with Waldorf early years practices/training preferred, with a minimum of a high interest in Waldorf early childhood pedagogical practices
  • 5+ years of direct experience in ratio in EC programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child care regulations in the BC Community Care and Assisted Living Act
  • Direct supervisory/leadership/administration experience preferred

  • Must be willing to work in a childcare float/break relief position as part of the regular work week, and in ratio as needed

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

  • Must live in the area of the EYC or be willing to relocate at your own expense
